Meghalaya is a very beautiful place in North-Eastern India. Meghalaya comprises the Khasi, the Garo, the Jaintia hills and also Assam surrounded Meghalaya at its one part. People also know Meghalaya as “the abode of clouds” in Sanskrit. This state bounded by Bangladesh and Sylhet in the south, Assam in the north. People must know that it was a part of Assam. Culture/ Traditions & Languages
The languages are used here Khasi, Pnar, Garo, Hajong, Biate, Assamese, and Bengali. The youngest daughter takes over all the wealth and she used to take care of her parents. However, it is quite unlike our other Indian states. It is the agricultural zone of India. They grow potatoes, rice, pineapples, maize, papayas, bananas, spices, etc. Usually, the girls wear a costume called Jainsen. This is an unstitched garment which is designed by mulberry silk and it is covered around the body. Garo Tribe usually wears a blouse along with Dakmanda which looks like a lungi. Khasi tribe wears Jainsen. For men, they wear loincloth as their traditional dress.

Nearest Railway Station:- Guwahati(100kms) is the nearest railway station.
Road Transport:- Daily bus and taxi services are available from Guwahati (Assam) and Meghalaya.
Helicopter Service:- Monday to Saturday between Guwahati- Shillong, Meghalaya vice-versa. Between Shillong, Meghalaya – Tura via Guwahati vice-versa also available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
